Task 7 - Problems & solution

Nowadays, almost all the people know about global warming but the only thing they know is that the global warming is the heating up of the earth's temperature and they don’t know about the consequences of global warming and even they don’t know about the causes of global warming.
We have to know everything about the global warming because our survival depends on this, on facing the global warming.


Two years ago, Al Gore who used to be the next president of USA , presented a film which is called " An Inconvenient Truth ". This film highlights lots of information about global warming and classifies lots of causes and effects. Al Gore used some charts, pictures and many facts to convince the people and reiterated his argument, such as melting ice caps and the glaciers; also he talked about the rising of the sea level. We watched the movie and read reviews of it, mostly favourable, e.g. Brandon Fibbs, but some unfavorable, e.g. Scott Nash.

I can't say if I didn’t use the car so much and I was a vegetarian that this will stop the global warming. We need to convince all the people that the global warming is getting worse and our life is in danger, so we all have to try to reduce global warming by many way's like walk when we can and don’t use the car and use one or two cars for the whole family instead of 5 or 6 and many things. By the way, we measured our carbon footprints & mine was 3.1.The class average for CRB was 3.778.

In conclusion, if we all agreed to reduce global warming. We can do it and save our lives and our planet. By the way, climate scientists think that things people do are helping to make the Earth warmer. So, we have to take it seriously because it really threatens to our life. As I say above, walk when we can, try to reduce the greenhouse gases and use the public transportation will help us on this. But I insisted on these words at the beginning", If we all".

Task 6 - Cool Cities

Cool Cities

In the last 300 years, the world witnessed a massive industrial revolution. This revolution caused many negative things, and one of them is the pollution. The pollution affects the temperature and the amount of carbon dioxide. More than that, it's causing the traffic congestion. If this thing continues, the earth will not bear this quantity of pollution.



According to this fact, we are in danger so we have to stop this thing from happening and continuing.



We watched film about Cool Cities, and the Japanese people started their cool cities project which depends on using renewable energy and electric vehicles and many other things. By this way, they are making the environment cleaner and less polluted.

As we say, " A journay of a thousand miles begins with one step ". That means this is the first step and we have to continue what the Japanese started and reduce the pollution because the earth can not tolerate this level of pollution.

EU Summary

Summary :

The issue which concerns all the world , the most important case nowadays, is the global warming . The Europian Union reached an agreement for the most important issue since it’s foundation 50 years ago. This to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by 2020 from their 1990 level.

First step , they had to reduce the carbon emissions from cars from the beginning of next year. Moreover, they had to increase the number of plants which is the key element in biofuels . Biofuels would be 10% of all petrol by 2020. By the way, there are many problems and one of them is that the renewable energy is very expensive.
The scientists confirm that the climate change will happen soon and it’s manmade, so we have to burn less fossil fuel.
This step should be done by all the countries and this is the reason of founding the EU, I mean the cooperation, because only one country cannot achieve alone.



Main idea : -


The main idea of the article is to reduce the pollution which is made by the climate changing and to put an end to the global warming, so the European Union is trying to start this project now.
The article shows some plans, steps and some problems which they are facing.


Comment : -


I think this article is very useful and contains lots of information about European Union plans to reduce the pollution and what they are planning to do in the long term.
I’m interested in this article and I want to know more about theis plans and what they did until today, and what they are thinking of , to solve this problem.

Task 5 - Carbon footprint

My individual carbon footprint is the greenhouse gas emissions that I’m personally responsible for. I did it on http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ , and these questions counted my individual carbon footprint. At the end of answering these questions , my score was 3.1 and I think it's good. Although my class avarage was 3.778.

There are three main reasons which it made me have this much footprint, which they are : -

1 - Food
2 - Home
3 - Stuff

Everyone on this world have his own footprint and he affect the atmosphere. By the way, United Arab Emirates has the highest footprint in the world.


The ways which I can reduce my footprint : -

I have to eat healthy food and it has to be less than now. Moreover, I have minimize driving cars, and trying to reach the near places walking , or for example if I want to go to somewhere and my friend is going there , I have to go with him becuase by this way , I will reduce the emission which is coming out of the car exhausted.

In a favourable review, he said that Al Gore classified alot of information about Global Warming, and it's a fact which we cannot escape from or ignore. Many facts confirm that Al Gore's review is completely right and we are at risk. Moreover, this information does not give any chance for any skeptic to say that these photographs or these facts which Al Gore classified are wrong. The presentation is not to scare the people actually, but it's to inform them about what we are facing nowadays and in the near future; these will make people think about the wrong things which they made, so they are gonna try to reduce the pollution.

In a more negative review, Scott says that the presentation is about Al Gore personally and his political aspirations because he used to be the next president of United states , so he wants to support himself in the next election by this movie instead of his desire to explain what is the global warming and its consequences. For example, he made jokes about Bush. Lastly , about the pictures, he says that the good photos with ice could be taken in winter. On the other hand, the bad ones which Al Gore showed and he says this is the effects of Global warming, were taken in the summer.


What is my opinion ?

I agree with the first review because I think Al Gore sorts much information and many facts which is from the real life. Any one will know that these facts are real and we are at risk, because Al Gore didn't put the photos only or he didn't talk about his son's car accident and his sister's death from lung cancer only, but he talked about facts which were confirmed by the scientists.
Lastly, I think there are no movies without any mistakes and because of that there are some opinions which say that Al Gore did this movie for his political ambitions.

One of the biggest problems facing the entire world today is global warming. Many scientists believe that the earth's temperature is rising and the icecaps are melting and oceans are rising among other problems. This essay will outline the problem of global warming and discuss possible solutions.

One of the biggest problems caused by global warming is melting icecaps and glaciers. This will cause the oceans to rise and further melting of the polar ice could also affect global weather patterns. Another result of global warming is the effect on plants and animals. This could be the main reason for the extinction of animals and plants.

One solution is to read and learn about the environment. This essay will educate us to know what to do. Another way in which we can reduce global warming is to plant trees to soak up the excess CO2 and give off oxygen. This will reduce the percentage of CO2 on the air. A third means of lowering global warming is to ride bikes, buses and walk when we can, instead of driving cars. This could reduce emissions and would reduce the greenhouse effect.

In conclusion, these are some ideas to help solve the problem. It's very important to care about our environment and our planet, because it means a lot to us.

Project_Task 1 ( About me )

I'm 19 years old and I live in Abu Dhabi. Actually, I'm from Sharjah, but as I wrote in my profile I live here because I have a job here and at the same time I'm studying, because I want to get the higher diploma in business. Last semester I studied in Sharjah Men's College , but in the holiday my brother gave me an opinion to work with him in the same place and also live with him because he is alone. I took my decision and I decided to continue my study in the afternoon and go to the work in the morning. I'm going to talk about my family. I have 7 brothers and 2 sisters and by the way I'm the youngest one. 4 brothers and the two sisters are married and we are 4 single. Hope to get married soon.
I really felt the difference between living in Sharjah and living in Abu Dhabi. For example, here sometimes I feel lonely and away from my family, but sometimes I see that's good for me because I have to depend on myself and it's a good thing.
